Alaska trims Honolulu-Sydney winter flying to six weekly services

Alaska Airlines will temporarily reduce its Honolulu-Sydney schedule for the 2026/27 northern winter, operating six weekly flights instead of the seven initially planned from 20 December 2026 to 6 February 2027. The long-haul transpacific service is flown by Hawaiian Airlines on behalf of Alaska, with the Hawaiian brand remaining visible on the route.

The adjustment replaces an earlier plan for daily flying between 15 December and 1 February, indicating a capacity cut rather than a route launch or expansion. The Honolulu-Sydney link is a key leisure market between Hawaii and Australia, and the revised schedule reflects a narrower offering during the peak travel period. Hawaiian currently operates the route with Airbus A330 widebody aircraft, which continue to underpin its long-haul network from Honolulu.
