The Bundesverband der Deutschen Luftverkehrswirtschaft sees no growth in Germany’s winter 2026/27 flight schedule, with seat capacity on routes to, from and within the country unchanged year on year at 117.6 million seats between September and February. The industry group says German air transport continues to lose ground as other markets recover more strongly, even as airlines improve efficiency and cut fuel consumption further to 3.32 litres per passenger per 100 kilometres.
The flat winter offering underlines a broader stagnation in Germany’s aviation market rather than a temporary route adjustment. Industry figures indicate the country’s share remains well below the level highlighted in the comparison, at only 28%, leaving airlines, airports and connected businesses facing another subdued season for demand and connectivity.
The winter schedule matters because it sets capacity for the period when European carriers typically adjust networks after the summer peak. With Germany showing no expansion, the market is lagging in a region where recovery has been uneven but stronger elsewhere, limiting scope for near-term traffic growth at major hubs and regional airports alike.
