Northrop Grumman has opened its East Gate 3 manufacturing facility in Layton, Utah, to expand production capacity for the B-21 Raider stealth bomber. The new plant forms part of the company’s East Gate campus, which is planned to reach about 845,000 square feet and support next-generation aircraft manufacturing, with room for up to 1,500 employees by 2032.
The opening comes as B-21 production and flight testing continue, giving Northrop additional industrial space in its northern Utah footprint between Clearfield and Layton. The company completed the facility ahead of schedule, and the campus is intended to strengthen the long-term manufacturing base behind the bomber programme.
Northrop’s Utah operations now exceed two million square feet, while its wider manufacturing network spans more than 30 million square feet across the US. Utah state and local officials attended the opening, underscoring the regional economic role of the expansion as well as its strategic value for the Air Force’s new bomber programme.
