Iberia Mantenimiento wins unrestricted A350 heavy maintenance approval from AESA

Iberia Mantenimiento has received approval from Spain’s aviation safety authority to carry out full heavy maintenance on its entire Airbus A350 fleet in-house, with the authorisation granted without restrictions. The move gives Iberia complete maintenance coverage for its A350s and removes the need for external support on this aircraft type.

The approval follows about two years of work and more than 150 initiatives across training, engineering, production, materials management, infrastructure, documentation, organisation, quality and IT systems. Iberia Mantenimiento director Enrique Robledo linked the project to work that began at the end of 2024 and said the authorisation confirms the company has the processes, resources, documentation, organisational structure and qualified staff needed to maintain the A350 to high safety, quality and efficiency standards.

The decision strengthens Iberia Mantenimiento’s position in the maintenance market and widens its scope for future business. It also gives the company unrestricted capability on one of the key widebody types in Iberia’s fleet, a development with direct operational relevance for the airline’s long-haul maintenance planning.
