Hesse’s economy minister Kaweh Mansoori has rejected wider traffic rights for Emirates, setting out opposition to any further access to German routes from the state that includes Frankfurt. Mansoori argued that expanded rights would be “nachteilig für den gesamten Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland”, as debate continues over whether the Gulf carrier should receive a fifth destination in Germany, with Berlin and Stuttgart among the airports discussed.
The dispute sits within a broader Germany–UAE air services fight that has drawn pressure from industry groups and pilot associations to keep any new rights tied to fair-competition safeguards. Emirates currently serves Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf, and additional rights would open another German point for the airline. Federal authorities have been weighing a compromise, but no final agreement has been confirmed, leaving the question of further access unresolved.
