XenomatiX promotes 6D road scanning system for runway inspection

XenomatiX is highlighting a vehicle-mounted 6D Road Scanning system for airport runway and pavement inspection, designed to give operators a fast, repeatable way to assess surface condition. The setup combines LiDAR, a high-resolution camera and GNSS to build a digital profile of runway surfaces, with survey coverage completed in less than two hours and outputs tailored to maintenance planning.

The system generates PCI, rutting and IRI measures, along with crack maps and other defect data used in pavement condition assessment. XenomatiX is positioning the equipment as portable enough for deployment across states or countries, giving airport operators a consistent method for monitoring surfaces and supporting repair decisions.

The scanning package is also intended to detect millimetre-level defects including cracks, potholes, rutting, raveling, depressions and light fixture protrusions. Airport-focused workflows are supported by reference to ASTM D5340 for pavement condition index calculations, a standard widely used in airport pavement management.

XenomatiX plans to present the system in a webinar on 20 October.
