Uzbekistan’s Fergana region and Afghan carrier Kam Air are exploring the creation of a new international airline based in Fergana. Regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov met Kam Air commercial director Omar Mohammad Suleiman and a representative of Uzbekistan Airports to discuss the project’s feasibility, infrastructure needs and operating arrangements.
The talks focused on whether the proposed venture could be implemented and what aviation services would be required to support it. Participants also reviewed the need to bring in specialist organisations and ensure compliance with international standards, while positioning Fergana as the likely base for the carrier.
The plan remains at an early stage, with no timetable, investment figure, ownership structure, fleet plan or route network disclosed. Even so, the discussions point to a possible new cross-border aviation project that could expand international connectivity in eastern Uzbekistan and deepen passenger and business links with Afghanistan.
