FLY91 orders 40 ATR 72-600s in deal worth about $1 billion

FLY91 has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 turboprops in New Delhi, in a deal worth about $1 billion at list prices. The Goa-based regional carrier plans to use the aircraft to expand its network across underserved and unserved Indian cities, with deliveries scheduled to begin in late 2027 and continue through 2032.

The order is the largest ATR firm commitment in almost a decade and the biggest ever by a regional airline. FLY91 currently operates six ATR 72-600s and expects to lease another six to eight aircraft before the new deliveries start, taking its fleet to around 12 to 14 aircraft in the near term. The company has also said it expects to have more than 60 aircraft once the order is fully delivered.

The transaction lifts ATR’s 2026 order intake materially and strengthens its position in India’s regional aviation market. Financing has not yet been finalised, and the airline is funding early payments from its own resources while it continues discussions with lessors and financiers. Discounting on large aircraft deals is common, so the realised value may differ from the list-price estimate.
