Trump threatens Bombardier sales ban in the US over local production

Donald Trump has threatened to block Bombardier from selling aircraft in the United States unless the Canadian business jet maker shifts more production to the country. The warning centres on Bombardier’s Challenger and Global business jets and comes as the Montreal-based company faces renewed pressure in the escalating trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa.

Trump used Truth Social to say there would be “no more selling Bombardier in the United States” and argued that the company must build in America if it wants access to the market. The threat follows earlier pressure this year over aircraft certification and tariffs, but no formal ban has been issued and the White House has not explained how any restriction would be enforced.

Bombardier already has a substantial US presence, including operations in Kansas and a broad supplier base, which complicates the president’s claim that the company is simply exporting into the country. The company also depends heavily on US customers, so any attempt to curtail sales would potentially affect business aviation demand, jobs and supply chains on both sides of the border.
