Korean Air and the Hanjin Group moved emergency supplies to Kathmandu on 8 September aboard flight KE695 as part of flood relief for Nepal. The shipment included 1,000 boxes of bottled water and 1,000 blankets prepared by the airline, with distribution to affected people, hospitals and rescue sites handled through the Nepali government.
The relief effort also included a government-led consignment of about 40,000 items, mainly thermal blankets from KOICA stockpiles, which moved from Hanjin’s Incheon Airport GDC on a direct Korean Air service to Kathmandu. Korean Air paused some existing cargo bookings to prioritise the humanitarian shipment amid the flooding emergency.
South Korea had already broadened support for Nepal after the floods, including additional relief supplies and search-and-rescue assistance for missing South Korean nationals. The operation underlines the use of Korean Air’s cargo network for rapid disaster response and the coordination between airline logistics and government aid flows.
