Aegean Airlines has appointed Michalis Kouveliotis as chief executive, replacing Dimitris Gerogiannis after 27 years with the Athens-based airline group. Kouveliotis assumed the role immediately, while Gerogiannis steps down after two decades as CEO and will remain involved as a management adviser. The transition comes as Aegean continues to develop its technical, training and wider growth activities.
Gerogiannis joined Aegean in 1999 as a founding executive and will support the transfer of responsibilities to the next generation of managers. His continuing remit includes oversight of the group’s Technical Base and Training Center, together with its new growth direction.
Kouveliotis previously served as Aegean’s chief financial officer before the company’s listing on the Athens Exchange. He became deputy CEO at the beginning of 2025, coordinating the group’s other divisions as part of preparations for the leadership transition.
Aegean also appointed Semiramis Paliou, chief executive of Diana Shipping, as an independent non-executive board member. She replaces Konstantinos Kalamas, who resigned, and will serve for the remainder of the current board’s term, subject to notification at the next general meeting of shareholders.
