Collins Aerospace is expanding its manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in West Des Moines, Iowa, with a multimillion-dollar investment and a 14,000-square-foot addition. The expansion will increase capacity for advanced fuel-distribution systems, engine-nozzle components and spare parts supporting commercial and military aviation programmes, while strengthening the site’s ability to manufacture and service fuel-system hardware.
The facility produces original-equipment components and aftermarket parts and provides MRO services for engine nozzle systems and powerplant accessories. It currently employs approximately 300 full-time workers and ships more than 25,000 engine nozzles per month, according to company information reported by several media outlets.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the near term, with completion expected in mid-2027. Collins plans to add roles by the end of 2026 and continue hiring into 2027 as programme requirements grow, although the company has not disclosed the project’s precise investment value.
The expansion follows a separate $14 million investment completed in 2023 at another West Des Moines facility, where Collins increased additive-manufacturing capacity with metal 3D-printing equipment.
