Nesma Airlines begins operating as Flyplus

Egypt-based Nesma Airlines began operating as Flyplus on 5 November, adopting a new brand while keeping its company structure, management and airline codes unchanged. The Cairo-based carrier plans to increase its fleet from 13 to 23 aircraft by 2027, although it has not identified the aircraft types. Flights continued without interruption during the transition, and Egypt’s civil aviation authority issued an amended air operator certificate.

The airline will retain its IATA code NE, ICAO code NMA and ticketing code 477, allowing passengers and travel partners to continue using the existing identifiers. Chief executive Karim Baky described the new brand as a foundation for further growth.

Flyplus also plans to introduce Business Class and Premium Economy cabins, but has not provided a launch schedule. Planned optional services include pre-order meals, fast-track security and lounge access. The carrier is seeking to expand its international network, with a particular focus on Sphinx International Airport near Cairo.

Nesma has operated holiday flights from Hurghada to destinations including Zurich and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The planned fleet increase and additional services would extend its offer beyond its established holiday-flight business.
