NATO opens counter-drone marketplace with 16 systems from five companies

NATO has opened a marketplace giving Allied countries access to 16 counter-uncrewed aircraft system solutions from five companies, without requiring a separate tender for each procurement. The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) selected offerings from Alta Ares, Axon Enterprise, Northrop Grumman, OSL UK and Quantum Systems. The solutions cover static, transportable and mobile operations, but NATO has not identified individual products or linked them to specific suppliers.

NCIA has established multi-award framework contracts for the selected solutions, valid for 18 months. NATO plans regular competitions to refresh the catalogue. The selection drew on experience from NATO and national innovation activities and exercises; the capabilities have been deployed in Allied countries and Ukraine.

The marketplace is intended to give Allies a faster route to counter-drone systems for urgent operational requirements. NATO also allocated €3.1 million for member nations or NATO commands to conduct further testing. The selection and framework access do not indicate that any country has placed an order, and the announcement gave no purchase figures.

The marketplace forms part of Drone Edge, an initiative launched at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum in Ankara in July 2026. Under the initiative, Allies committed to invest more than $40 billion in counter-drone capabilities over five years.
