Singapore Airlines is investing more than S$2 billion in new First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins for its long-haul fleet. Unveiled on 6 November, the products will be installed on 41 Airbus A350-900s and the airline’s future Boeing 777-9s, with the first retrofits planned from the second half of 2027. The A350 programme includes new Business Class seats, while the ultra-long-range versions will also gain First Class cabins.
The 777-9s are due to receive all four cabin products. The A350 rollout brings the redesigned cabins to the existing fleet as Boeing 777-9 deliveries remain delayed. Singapore Airlines’ chief commercial officer linked the decision to extend the programme to A350s with those delays, CNBC reported.
The new First Class suites will have privacy doors and seats that can be configured for dining with a companion or converted into a double bed. Business Class will also feature privacy doors and full-flat beds. CNBC reported that First and Business Class will have 4K screens, while Business Class will include wireless charging and Bluetooth audio.
The investment covers the overall cabin programme; per-aircraft costs have not been disclosed. The 41 A350s are in addition to the future 777-9 fleet, which other coverage puts at 31 aircraft.
