Airbus and Air France-KLM finalise A350 component-support joint venture

Airbus and Air France-KLM have finalised Alpha Component Solutions, a 50-50 joint venture dedicated to supporting A350 components worldwide. Established in Toulouse, France, the entity combines Airbus Flight Hours Services with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance to manage a shared-access pool of components and provide assets, maintenance, repairs and supply-chain services. It already contractually supports more than 500 aircraft.

Alpha Component Solutions is intended to address the growing long-term component-maintenance needs of the expanding global A350 fleet. By combining Airbus’s aircraft-support capabilities with AFI KLM E&M’s component-maintenance expertise, the venture will offer operators access to a broader pool of replacement parts and an integrated worldwide support network.

The services will be available to existing and future A350 customers globally, including operators outside the two parent groups. The arrangement is designed to improve access to serviceable components and support fleet availability, while reducing the need for airlines to rely solely on their own inventories or separate support agreements.

The companies have not disclosed financial terms, the size of the component pool, facilities, staffing or the identities of the operators covered by the existing contracts. They also have not quantified any expected reduction in aircraft-on-ground time, inventory costs or maintenance delays.
