Wingcopter has unveiled the Wingcopter 262, an all-electric VTOL reconnaissance drone designed for tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. The aircraft is pitched with up to six hours of endurance, a 150 km tactical range, a 10 kg maximum take-off weight and a 262 cm wingspan, positioning the German manufacturer further into the defence and dual-use UAV market.
The modular aircraft uses quick-swap batteries to cut turnaround time between sorties and can carry AI-enabled electro-optical and infrared sensors. It is also designed to operate in GNSS-denied environments, widening its potential for military missions where satellite navigation is disrupted or unavailable.
Wingcopter built its name on delivery drones, but the new platform extends that business into reconnaissance and surveillance hardware. The long-endurance profile and VTOL configuration are intended to support sustained operations without runway infrastructure, while the sensor payload options point to use across border monitoring, emergency response and other tactical applications.
