Varna bus collision grounds Tuifly Belgium Boeing 737 Max 8

A passenger bus struck the wing of a Tuifly Belgium Boeing 737 Max 8 at Varna Airport on Tuesday, forcing the cancellation of the planned flight to Brussels. No injuries were reported, and the aircraft, registered OO-TMT, was repaired before carrying the affected passengers back to Belgium on Wednesday evening.

The incident disrupted holidaymakers returning from Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast and briefly removed the aircraft from service. The collision occurred during ground operations at the airport, where the bus made contact with the jet’s wing while passengers were being transferred.

The same aircraft later resumed its role in the disrupted rotation once maintenance work had been completed. The event is one of several recent ground-handling incidents to affect European leisure travel at peak return periods, when delay recovery options can be limited and spare aircraft are not always immediately available.
