US Army orders 16 Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawks in $234 million contract modification

The US Army has awarded Sikorsky a $234.46 million undefinitised contract modification for 16 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, with production set for Stratford, Connecticut. The action lifts the cumulative value of the procurement to $356.25 million and keeps the Army’s Black Hawk line moving while the service manages the transition into its next helicopter buy cycle.

The Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal awarded the work on 17 September, using fiscal 2026 aircraft procurement funds. Delivery of the initial aircraft is planned for fiscal 2028, and completion is scheduled for 30 June 2028. Because the modification is undefinitised, final terms can still change while production begins.

The order extends activity on Sikorsky’s current multiyear Army agreement, signed in 2022 and due to run through late 2027. Company officials have indicated the new action could open the door to a larger follow-on run later, potentially reaching as many as 150 helicopters over the next three to four years. The Stratford assembly line supports a supplier base spanning 230 companies across 43 states.
