United Airlines has started operating a Boeing 787-9 with its new Elevated premium cabin on the Zurich–San Francisco route, bringing the upgraded long-haul product to Switzerland and the German-speaking market for the first time. The daily seasonal service, which runs until 24 October 2026, now features an aircraft with 99 premium seats, including eight Polaris Studio suites with sliding doors and lie-flat beds.
The new layout gives Zurich travellers direct access to United’s latest premium offer on one of its key transatlantic business routes. A separate industry report earlier in the week indicated the aircraft had already entered service on the San Francisco–Zurich rotation, consistent with the move now visible on the eastbound and westbound schedule.
United operates the Zurich service daily during the summer season and plans to resume it on 30 April 2027 after the winter break. The Elevated 787-9 has also been rolled out on other long-haul routes from San Francisco, underlining the carrier’s push to place the new premium configuration on higher-yield intercontinental markets.
