The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded about $64 million in new V-22 sustainment work, including a $41.5 million repair contract for hydraulic power drive units and a $19.8 million software-support order for the Osprey fleet. Woodward HRT Inc. will handle the repair work in Santa Clarita, California, while Bell Boeing Joint Project Office will provide engineering and technical support from Amarillo, Texas.
The awards were issued on 18 September and are due to run into 2029 and 2030 respectively, underscoring continued investment in the tiltrotor programme after the end of production. The repair contract covers 545 hydraulic power drive units used across Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force V-22 operations, while the software order supports the Tactical Software Suite that helps maintain fleet readiness.
The latest awards follow separate V-22 sustainment activity reported on the same day, including a safety-related upgrade package for ODSSHI kits. Together, the contracts point to a broader shift in effort from manufacturing to sustaining availability, depot-level repair and software support for operators in the United States and abroad.
