TAROM takes delivery of first Boeing 737 MAX in Seattle

TAROM has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX, a Boeing 737-8, in Seattle and is ferrying the aircraft to Romania in two legs via Keflavík, Iceland. The jet will become the first 737 MAX in the Romanian carrier’s fleet and will carry the name Mircea Lucescu.

TAROM crews are operating the transfer flight from Boeing’s Seattle-area facilities to Bucharest. The handover comes after the airline had already outlined the Seattle–Keflavík–Bucharest routing for the delivery flight, with arrival in Romania expected later in the week.

The aircraft entry adds a new narrowbody type to TAROM’s fleet and forms part of the state carrier’s broader modernisation programme. The delivery follows earlier delays to the 737 MAX induction plan, making the arrival of the first aircraft a long-awaited step in the airline’s fleet renewal programme.
