TAP Air Portugal will raise capacity on its Porto–Rio de Janeiro Galeão service in the Northern winter 2026/27 schedule, adding a third weekly flight from 28 October. The route will continue to be operated with the Airbus A330-900neo, increasing supply on the long-haul Europe–Brazil city pair and strengthening TAP’s Brazil network from Porto alongside its larger Lisbon operation.
The extra frequency turns the current twice-weekly service into three flights a week, a 50% increase in capacity on the route. It also extends TAP’s long-haul presence from Porto, where the airline has been building up intercontinental flying as part of its wider network strategy.
The change is a frequency increase rather than a new route launch, and no offsetting reductions have been indicated. The additional service is scheduled for the winter season, when demand patterns typically support stronger leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic between Portugal and Brazil.
