Safran opens new US$22 million landing-gear MRO facility in Singapore

Safran Landing Systems Singapore has opened a new US$22 million industrial and maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at 66 Loyang Way, expanding its Singapore footprint to 20,500 square metres. The site is Safran’s largest landing-gear MRO hub in Asia-Pacific and its second-largest worldwide, with assembly work shifting to the new premises while the existing Loyang Crescent facility continues repair and manufacturing activity.

The expansion, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, is due to enter full operation in October and is expected to ship about 2.5 complete landing-gear sets a week. The facility will serve aircraft including the Boeing 787 and 737, Airbus A380, A350, A320 and A321, as well as ATR models.

Safran plans to add 100 jobs by 2030, taking its Singapore headcount to about 460. The company’s Singapore managing director said the new layout should lift capacity by about 40%, while future upgrades under consideration include titanium-part repair and advanced coating and plating processes.
