Swissport has signed a binding agreement to acquire a majority stake in Giraldo Hermanos International SAS (GHI), giving the ground services group entry into Colombia. The deal adds operations in Bogotá and Medellín and extends Swissport’s Latin America network, where it already serves 85 airports across 15 countries.
GHI holds licences for ground handling at major Colombian airports and provides passenger and air cargo services. Swissport described Colombia as a strategic, high-growth market and framed the acquisition as a platform for expanding in South America’s second-largest aviation market. Warwick Brady, Swissport’s chief executive, said the transaction supports the company’s wider push into large aviation markets and strengthens its ability to serve airline customers across the region.
The acquisition is not yet complete and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Francisco Giraldo, GHI’s chief executive, characterised the partnership as one that combines local operations with Swissport’s global reach for the benefit of customers, employees and partners.
