Star Alliance and Incheon International Airport Corporation will open a Star Alliance branded lounge at Seoul Incheon Terminal 1, using the existing Asiana Airlines Business Lounge near gate 42 on the fourth floor of the duty-free area. The lounge is scheduled to begin operating on 17 December, the day Asiana Airlines leaves the alliance, preserving premium lounge access for Star Alliance passengers at one of Asia’s key transfer hubs.
The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the facility as a direct response to the access gap that could have followed Asiana’s departure. It will be Star Alliance’s seventh branded lounge worldwide, joining locations in cities including Paris, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro.
The lounge will serve customers on the 14 Star Alliance member airlines operating at Incheon, which together provide service to 29 destinations worldwide. The move keeps alliance-branded premium facilities in place at the airport and maintains continuity for frequent flyers using Star Alliance carriers through Seoul.
