Skyhub PAD Ends Lübeck–Munich Route as Regional Carrier Winds Down Operations

Skyhub PAD is discontinuing its Lübeck–Munich service as part of a broader withdrawal from the market that will see all operations cease on 10 June 2026. The decision, announced on 27 May 2026, comes less than a year after the regional initiative based at Paderborn/Lippstadt launched the route within its summer 2026 schedule.

The virtual carrier, which markets flights operated by Danish Air Transport with ATR 72-600 aircraft, had built a small network of three routes: Paderborn/Lippstadt–Munich, Lübeck–Munich and Pécs–Munich. All three were connected to Lufthansa’s distribution system through an interline arrangement, followed by a codeshare activated on 28 April 2026, allowing sale under Lufthansa flight numbers and through-check of baggage.

Skyhub PAD and its backers from the Paderborn/East Westphalia-Lippe region aimed to re-establish reliable access to the Lufthansa hub in Munich and targeted around 90,000 passengers annually by the end of 2026, after carrying about 4,300 passengers in the first month of operation in September 2025.

The project has been undermined by low booking volumes, higher kerosene prices and elevated site-related costs at Paderborn/Lippstadt. Weak commercial performance on the Lübeck–Munich route, operated three times weekly, contributed to the early termination of the service and confirms the progressive wind-down of Skyhub PAD’s network.
