Wizz Air Opens First Spanish Bases and Launches Domestic Routes

Wizz Air establishes its first operational bases in Spain at Madrid-Barajas and Valencia, launching domestic flights for the first time in November 2026. The Hungarian ULCC will station four Airbus A321neo aircraft across the two hubs, enabling 11 new domestic routes including Madrid–Palma, Valencia–Bilbao, and Bilbao–Santiago. International additions cover London Luton–Málaga, Almería–Bucharest, and Valencia–Naples, with frequencies rising on Madrid–London (2 daily) and Madrid–Milan (3 daily). This expansion adds 16–18 new routes, serves 16 Spanish airports, and creates approximately 150 jobs for pilots and cabin crew. The move directly challenges Iberia, Ryanair, Vueling, and Volotea on key domestic segments, marking Wizz Air’s largest market entry in Spain.
