SIAEC opens new Base Maintenance Malaysia (BMM) facility in Subang

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has opened its new Base Maintenance Malaysia (BMM) facility at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor, expanding the group’s regional base maintenance network.

The Subang site is a widebody-focused maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center comprising two hangars with capacity for up to six concurrent aircraft checks. According to the company, BMM will provide scheduled heavy maintenance checks, structural repairs, modifications and retrofit work.

The facility is being set up to handle current and new-generation widebody types, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787. BMM is positioned as part of SIAEC’s regional base maintenance network alongside an existing facility in the Philippines.

The hangars are located within Complex A at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, while BMM’s office is in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya. The company has also begun building up its local workforce, supported by a fully funded trainee aircraft technician program run with APR-Aviation Training Centre in Subang, which includes theoretical training in Malaysia followed by on-the-job training at SIAEC’s Changi facility in Singapore and at BMM.
