Sebastián Acuto named LATAM Airlines Group COO and head of operations and maintenance

LATAM Airlines Group has appointed Sebastián Acuto as vice president of operations and maintenance, effectively placing him in the COO role as the carrier sharpens oversight of operations, maintenance and fleet planning. He succeeds Hernán Pasman, who left the post at the end of August, in a move that keeps leadership of a core operational area within LATAM’s existing management ranks.

Acuto steps up from director of fleet and projects after 17 years with the group. His career at LATAM has included eight years in engineering and maintenance, followed by responsibility for fleet strategy and planning from 2020, giving him direct exposure to the airline’s technical, operational and long-term aircraft planning functions.

The appointment gives LATAM continuity at a time when large network carriers are focused on punctuality, safety, efficiency and technology-led process changes. The operations, maintenance and fleet portfolio sits at the centre of those priorities, shaping aircraft availability, reliability and execution across the region’s largest airline groups.
