Saudia and Garuda Indonesia plan joint business after Jakarta framework deal

Saudia and Garuda Indonesia have signed a Joint Business Framework Agreement in Jakarta, moving their partnership into the next phase and opening regulatory approval work for a planned joint business launch in 2027. The framework covers closer network integration and commercial coordination between the Saudi and Indonesian carriers, whose combined reach already spans more than 120 destinations across key markets in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Australia.

The agreement builds on an MoU reached in July 2026 and extends cooperation beyond a general partnership into a structured framework for joint business planning. It is expected to support traffic flows on routes linked to Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and other long-haul destinations, with Hajj and Umrah travel among the most relevant segments.

The next phase will focus on regulatory approvals and on finalising remaining terms before the planned launch. Areas under discussion include fare coordination, frequent flyer cooperation, technology integration and airport services, as both carriers look to deepen commercial alignment across their networks.
