Safran has agreed a new share buyback-for-cancellation tranche with an investment services provider, setting a maximum value of €375 million for purchases of its own shares. The Paris-based aerospace group will run the tranche from 21 September to no later than 27 November as part of its wider €5 billion programme covering 2025 to 2028.
The transaction falls under shareholder authority granted on 21 May and lifts Safran’s executed buyback total to €2.275 billion. The latest tranche does not change the overall programme; it extends an existing capital-return plan that has already been running for several years and remains focused on cancelling repurchased shares rather than building treasury stock.
Safran’s buyback activity has been a significant feature of its financial policy in 2026, alongside ongoing operational performance in aerospace and defence. The company’s latest tranche follows earlier repurchases under the same programme and keeps the pace of capital returns aligned with the framework approved by shareholders.
