Raytheon’s F-35B Fires Eight StormBreaker Weapons in Arizona Test

Raytheon has demonstrated an F-35B launching eight StormBreaker smart weapons in a single flight test in Arizona, a trial that highlights the jet’s expanding precision-strike capacity against moving targets. The milestone centres on RTX’s StormBreaker munition and the F-35B platform, underscoring the aircraft’s ability to carry out higher-intensity attacks while keeping the launch aircraft farther from threat envelopes.

StormBreaker is designed for long-range precision engagement in adverse conditions and can strike moving targets at more than 45 miles. The recent test adds a notable loadout and release sequence to the weapon’s integration history with the F-35 family. The eight-weapon launch also aligns with the F-35’s internal carriage potential for compact munitions, a configuration that is relevant to stealth operations and tactical flexibility.

The demonstration comes as militaries continue to expand the role of network-enabled smart weapons in contested airspace, where range, survivability and target mobility matter more than ever. For Raytheon, the event adds another integration milestone for StormBreaker and further positions the weapon for use across multiple tactical strike profiles.
