Flugplatz St. Gallen-Altenrhein marked its 100th anniversary with a three-day airshow from 28 to 30 August that featured the Patrouille Suisse as the headline attraction, alongside displays by Junkers F 13 replicas and classic Douglas DC-3-era aircraft. The Saturday performance by the Swiss air force team was the centrepiece of the programme at the airfield on the Swiss side of Lake Constance near Rorschach.
The event combined static and flying displays with heritage aircraft and modern military flying, underscoring continued public demand for vintage aviation spectacles. The Patrouille Suisse appearance was scheduled for Saturday afternoon and was described as one of the team’s last shows in its current F-5E Tiger II formation before retirement. Large visitor numbers also created traffic pressure around the site, prompting temporary police measures in the area.
Organisers positioned the anniversary as both a celebration of the airfield’s history and a showcase for aviation tourism in eastern Switzerland. Alongside the aerobatic team, the programme included classic transports, flying displays and other historic aircraft, giving the weekend a strong heritage focus while keeping the main draw on the Swiss national display team.
