Oslo Airport will operate normally during King Harald V’s funeral on Wednesday, but Avinor expects unusual traffic from arriving and departing VIP delegations. The busiest period is likely to be the morning of the funeral, when aircraft movements linked to guests and official parties could affect the regular schedule at Norway’s main hub.
Passengers have been advised to check flight status with their airline, arrive in good time and allow extra time for travel to and from the airport. Road access may be more difficult because of reduced traffic flow in the area, although public transport is expected to run as normal.
The funeral comes as Norway temporarily restores internal Schengen border controls until 14 September because of the ceremony and the expected arrival of international dignitaries. Foreign leaders and other officials are due in Oslo for the event, adding to the pressure on airport operations even though no specific airlines or individual services have been named as affected.
