Hamburg Airport will close its Norderstedt/Alsterdorf runway from 9 to 23 September for annual maintenance, shifting all take-offs and landings to the Niendorf/Langenhorn runway. The temporary closure will alter flight paths over parts of the city and increase noise exposure for neighbouring districts during the two-week work programme.
The airport also expects additional short daytime closures at irregular intervals through the year to support maintenance and infrastructure checks. The other runway, Niendorf/Langenhorn, underwent its own maintenance in June, when traffic was routed over Norderstedt and Alsterdorf. The September work is part of the airport’s regular operational schedule rather than an unscheduled disruption, but it will still concentrate traffic on a single runway and tighten operating margins while the work is under way.
