The Royal Norwegian Air Force will send four F-35 fighter jets over Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday for King Harald V’s state funeral, in a missing-man formation planned for the end of the service. The flyover is tentatively set for 14:05 to 14:30 and forms part of the armed forces’ official tribute to the late monarch, who also served as Norway’s supreme commander.
The overflight will take place only if weather and safety conditions allow it. The formation is intended as a ceremonial honour, with one aircraft breaking away and climbing in a visual gesture of remembrance. Oslo Cathedral is the centrepiece of the funeral programme in the Norwegian capital, where the king’s state funeral has already been scheduled for Wednesday.
