Munich Airport’s traffic on routes to the Arab and Middle East region has recovered to about 80% load factor since the beginning of September, after a weaker period earlier in the year. Corinna Born, head of International at Flughafen München, linked the rebound to demand seen around the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, where the market outlook for the carrier and airport network was discussed.
The improvement points to firmer premium and long-haul demand on an important part of Munich’s hub traffic, particularly for services connecting the Bavarian gateway with Gulf and wider Middle East destinations. The figure refers to seat occupancy rather than a capacity change, suggesting airlines are filling a larger share of available seats without an immediate network expansion.
The recovery may support planning for frequencies and aircraft deployment on these routes, especially if the stronger booking pattern continues through the autumn. Munich’s Middle East network has faced weaker performance before this rebound, making the return to an 80% load factor a notable shift for carriers serving the market.
