Munich Airport opens new Parkhaus P8 for travellers

Munich Airport has opened its new Parkhaus P8 for travellers, replacing an older garage beside the airport’s two terminals. The multi-storey facility provides about 3,700 parking spaces between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, allowing passengers to walk to either terminal in a few minutes.

The new building replaces a garage that dated back to the airport’s opening in 1992. Demolition of the old structure and site preparation began in 2023, before new construction started in May 2024. The project was designed to improve access for short-stay and terminal parking users, while keeping the location close to the main passenger flows.

Sustainability features include a rooftop photovoltaic system rated at 1,378 kWp and EV charging infrastructure. Munich Airport is adding up to 50 charging points in the first phase. The roof concept is also designed to retain precipitation and release it again through evaporation. A separate report identified Max Bögl as the contractor and highlighted parking guidance systems and licence-plate recognition at the facility.
