Munich Airport opens new P8 car park with 3,700 spaces

Munich Airport opened its new P8 car park on 1 September, adding about 3,700 parking spaces between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The multi-storey facility replaces an older building from 1992 and is positioned within a few minutes’ walk of both terminals, giving passengers a closer parking option at Germany’s busiest airport outside the Lufthansa hubs.

Construction began in May 2024, with the new structure designed to support a more digitalised parking experience. Online bookings can use automatic number-plate recognition for contactless entry and exit, and the airport is offering a 25% discount for reservations made through its own parking platform until the end of 2026.

The roof carries a 1,378 kWp photovoltaic system, while up to 50 charging points for electric vehicles are planned initially. The project expands capacity at a major international airport while also increasing its focus on electrification and automated access for travellers.
