Lufthansa Group extends Riyadh flight suspension to 18 November

Lufthansa Group has extended its suspension of flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by approximately four weeks, with services to King Khalid International Airport now halted through 18 November 2026. The precautionary decision follows a series of Houthi attacks on the Saudi capital, including a strike near the airport that killed 13 people and injured more than 300. The airport has since resumed takeoffs and landings, but airlines remain cautious.

The extension supersedes the group’s previously reported suspension through 16 October. Lufthansa Group is continuing to monitor developments and assess its Middle East flight schedule as the security situation remains volatile.

The stoppage is not understood to reflect a continuing formal closure of King Khalid International Airport. Instead, Lufthansa’s operation is being governed by its assessment of the risk to passengers, crews and aircraft. Other major international airlines have also avoided Riyadh despite the airport’s reported return to service, underscoring the gap between infrastructure availability and the resumption of commercial operations.

The available information does not identify the affected Lufthansa Group subsidiary, flight numbers, route frequencies or a precise restart date beyond the suspension period ending on 18 November.
