Lufthansa Group’s supervisory board has approved the exercise of options for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft, with deliveries due to start in the early 2030s. The order gives the German group its first MAX 10s and lifts its firm commitment to the Boeing 737 MAX family to 60 aircraft.
The aircraft come from purchase rights secured in a 2023 deal for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, which also included 60 options for additional MAX-family jets. Lufthansa Group said the move fits its longer-term short- and medium-haul fleet renewal programme and supports the transition to a more efficient narrowbody fleet.
The group has not identified the operating airline for the MAX 10s or given a seat count. It also did not specify exact delivery years beyond the early 2030s, underlining that the order is part of a later fleet-planning cycle rather than an immediate capacity change.
