LOT Polish Airlines will add two used Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from Virgin Atlantic to its long-haul fleet, with the aircraft due to enter service in the first half of 2027. The cabins will be refreshed rather than fully reconfigured, and the move lifts the carrier’s Dreamliner fleet to 17 aircraft as it expands widebody capacity from Warsaw.
The plan was disclosed by LOT chief executive Michał Fijoł at a press event linked to Civil Aviation Day in Poland. LOT currently operates eight Boeing 787-8s and seven 787-9s, and the extra pair will increase its long-haul flexibility without waiting for new-build deliveries.
The wider fleet strategy targets up to 19 widebody aircraft at the peak of the next season, including two Boeing 777s on wet lease. That combination would give LOT more lift on intercontinental routes while it continues to rely on a mixed long-haul structure built around the Dreamliner family.
