Lockheed Martin launches $25 million 25Forward initiative to mark 9/11 anniversary

Lockheed Martin has launched a five-year, $25 million 25Forward initiative from Bethesda, Maryland, to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks and support the preservation of their history and lessons. The programme includes a $10 million contribution to the Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center, with a ceremonial groundbreaking planned for 12 September.

Jim Taiclet, the company’s chairman, president and chief executive, framed the initiative as part of Lockheed Martin’s long-term support for 9/11 responders and survivors, alongside wider disaster-response preparedness efforts. The company plans to unveil additional projects in the coming months, making the current launch the first phase of a broader programme.

The Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center is intended to complement the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and provide an educational space for visitors. Lockheed Martin did not disclose how the remaining funds will be allocated beyond the headline commitments, leaving the full scope of 25Forward to be defined through later announcements.
