LATAM chooses Curitiba as E195-E2 maintenance base

LATAM Airlines Brasil has selected Curitiba as one of three scheduled maintenance bases for its incoming Embraer E195-E2 fleet, alongside Brasília and São Paulo/Guarulhos. The facilities are set to be ready in October, ahead of the start of commercial E195-E2 operations planned for November, with Curitiba positioned as the main hub for preventive checks.

The three bases will jointly handle up to 49 scheduled maintenance checks a week, while Curitiba alone is expected to process up to three aircraft simultaneously overnight and up to 21 checks weekly. LATAM is also assigning 127 mechanics to support the new model across the network. In Curitiba, preparations include a new maintenance room, upgraded tooling and storage, and specialist equipment for the E195-E2.

Training for the maintenance teams began in January, giving the airline a runway to build operational readiness before the first commercial flights. The choice of Curitiba extends the city’s role in LATAM’s Brazilian maintenance network and draws on its existing Airbus A320-family maintenance experience, while giving the carrier domestic support capacity for a new aircraft type from day one.
