Jetstar has completed a trial landing at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport in Sydney, using an A320 that arrived from Melbourne as the airport prepares for passenger services on 25 October 2026. The non-revenue flight formed part of commissioning work at the new airport, where Jetstar is set to operate the first commercial service, a flight to the Gold Coast.
The landing formed part of a broader readiness programme designed to test terminal procedures, taxi routes, aerobridges, refuelling systems, ground handling and other airport operations before opening. Volunteer stress-testing and additional trial activity were taking place at the same time, as Western Sydney International moved through final checks ahead of launch.
Jetstar’s early presence gives the airline a lead position at the airport’s opening phase, with the carrier expected to be among the first to carry paying passengers from the new facility. The trial also indicated that the airport is approaching final commissioning after years of construction and preparation for commercial operations.
