ITA Airways plans return to Venezuela in spring 2027

ITA Airways is preparing a return to Caracas in spring 2027, with the Rome–Caracas route seen as possible from March or April. The move would restore a direct link between Italy and Venezuela via Simón Bolívar International Airport at Maiquetía and deepen the carrier’s long-haul push into the Americas.

Chief executive Jörg Eberhart has framed South America and the United States as key targets in ITA’s network strategy, while the Caracas service remains subject to remaining administrative steps. Venezuelan transport officials have also pointed to a 2027 re-entry into the local route network, indicating that the project is advancing but not yet fully finalised.

A return to Caracas would add another European option as international service at Maiquetía gradually recovers. The timing also aligns with broader reopening signals at the airport, where several foreign carriers are weighing or planning resumptions.
