Israir will begin nonstop service between Tel Aviv and New York JFK on 15 September, moving the launch forward from an earlier mid-October target. The carrier will use Airbus A330 widebody aircraft on the route, its first regular service to the United States, with initial operations planned at three weekly frequencies and first return flights from New York due two days later.
The route has secured the required regulatory approvals, clearing the last hurdle before entry into the market. Israir will become the third Israeli airline on the Tel Aviv–New York sector, intensifying competition on one of the most heavily travelled transatlantic routes serving Israel.
Sales opened on 7 September, with some coverage indicating fares from about $800 one way. The schedule is expected to increase to four weekly flights from 19 October and six weekly from 1 December, adding capacity ahead of the Jewish holiday period, when demand and yields typically rise.
