Isar Aerospace co-founder and chief technical officer Josef Fleischmann is leaving the company’s top technical role as the German launch startup builds on the momentum of its recent rocket success. Can Araz will take over as CTO, while Fleischmann moves on to focus on Bavaria Instruments, the space technology company he founded.
Fleischmann will retain his stake in Isar Aerospace, preserving his link to the Munich-based group he helped build. The leadership change comes shortly after the company’s successful launch, a milestone that has sharply increased its visibility in Europe’s commercial space sector.
The departure affects one of Isar Aerospace’s founding figures at a sensitive point in the programme’s development, as the company works to turn its launch progress into commercial traction. Araz’s promotion places continuity in the technical leadership team after years in which Fleischmann held a central role in the startup’s engineering organisation.
