Iran Air is operating services to Najaf from three Iranian cities, expanding pilgrimage links between Iran and southern Iraq. The route network covers Tehran, Isfahan and Mashhad, with different weekly frequencies on each city pair and scheduled flying targeted at demand for travel to one of Iraq’s most important religious destinations.
Mashhad is served on Saturdays and Wednesdays, while Tehran has departures on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Isfahan is linked to Najaf on Tuesdays and Fridays. The pattern points to a scheduled network focused on religious traffic, with Najaf drawing large numbers of Iranian travellers throughout the year and especially during peak pilgrimage periods.
The new schedule adds a clearer picture of Iran Air’s Iraq capacity at a time when regional connectivity remains closely tied to pilgrimage flows rather than broad commercial expansion. The city mix also spreads access beyond the capital, giving passengers in central and northeastern Iran more direct options to Najaf instead of routing through Tehran.
